Mutual Of Omaha commercial
This is the original radio commercial from 1958, my father purchased the promotional 7" by mail back then. This was an obvious parody of musicals, specifically Oklahoma! and was later reworked to remove the brand references and expanded to 9+ minutes and released by Capital records as Omaha!. I recorded this off the original vinyl on the day of Stan Freberg's death when I could not find the original version online to share with anyone. A comedic genius at his best.
This is the "Original Cast Recording" of "Omaha!", Stan Freberg's outrageously innovative 1958 radio commercial for Butternut Coffee. It was a satire of cast recordings of Rodgers and Hammerstein's musicals, specifically "Oklahoma!" Stan Freberg wrote the score, musica was arranged and conducted by Billy May. This recording came from a rare 1958 Capitol record.
You can feel the rhythm in the air. Omaha's downtown Old Market district is an experience for the senses. Cobblestone streets lined with flowers, hip boutiques, art galleries, antique stores, quaint cafes, innovative restaurants, original steakhouses and local pubs. All wrapped in a flavor of fun. Omaha is the perfect weekend getaway. Plan your escape at visitomaha.com!
